Monday, April 27, 2009

On Monday 23rd March 2009, members of Friends of Gambian Schools (FROGS) handed over much needed classroom furniture for pupils and desks and chairs for teachers, at MadianaLowerBasicSchool.

These gifts are to furnish their two newly completed classrooms. These classrooms had been completed with assistance from the Amazons, a youth group from Leicestershire in the UK, who have had a link with the school for the past two years.

During the handing over ceremony, attended by school staff, PTA members and village representatives, the Headmaster thanked FROGS for bringing such assistance to his school.

Others schools that received help from FROGS include Brufut Upper Basic School, who appealed for assistance to set up a workable school garden.

FROGS provided a large amount of basic gardening tools as well as fenced an area of 50sq. meters of the school compound.

The other school to received help was Agi Awa Bah Nursery School in Bakau, where assistance was given for the completion the school office and tiling a classroom floor.

Sally Readers, Coordinator of FROGS, re-affirmed her organization’s continued support towards the development of Gambia’s education sector.

FRGOGS is also engaged in helping younger aged groups in the country.
