In an exclusive interview with Pointsports yesterday, the head coach of The Gambia National U-17 team, Tarik Siagy , said that plans are in the pipeline to start intensive training in advance to prepare well for the tournament proper in Algiers. He further expressed confidence that, if all went well, his team will perform their level best in the 2009 CAF U-17 championship in Algeria.

He stated that he and his technical team are also scouting for good players in the ongoing Muhammed Yahya Jammeh Super Cup in order to put up a strong side that will bring glory to Gambians. He further stated that they would do every thing necessary to raise The Gambia’s flag higher in Algeria.

He called on Gambians to come out and support the team so that they can bring the trophy to The Gambia.

“As you all know football is expensive nowadays so I am appealing to the general pubic to come forward and support the U –17,” Siagy concluded.
