The George Town Trust recently handed over a cheque amounting to fifty-three thousand dalasis (D53,000) to Armitage Senior Secondary School in Janjanbureh, Central River Region. The cheque is towards the trust’s sponsorship of students in the school.

It can be recalled that four months ago, the same charitable organization gave D150,000 to the school for its sponsored students. Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the school grounds, the chairman of George Town Trust, Richard Leon, said it is always a pleasure for his charitable organization to assist the needy students especially deserving ones. He noted that the sum was for the third term school fees for the one hundred trust-sponsored students in the school.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the school, the principal, Ebrima M Joof, applauded the George Town Trust for helping government in assisting the needy and deserving students. He stated that assisting the needy students will go a long way in helping some parents to meet their economic commitments to the school. He called on the students to make the best use of the opportunity.
