I would really appreciate it if you would provide me a space on your paper, just to commend you guys for a job well done. I am a Gambian living in Raleigh, North Carolina, and a frequent reader of your paper. One thing I notice is the positive and ethical reporting I read on a daily basis which really makes me feel proud of being Gambian.
I wake up every morning and log onto the Daily Observer to read every story, and sometimes even the commercials on the page, just to feel at home. And I am still not getting enough. I also want to commend you guys for bringing out the plight of needy Gambians who needs help from their fellow citizens, such as education and health, for people to assist them.
I recall reading a piece about foreigners using Gambian documents to travel and end up tarnishing the good name of this beautiful nation we call MOTHER GAMBIA. It would be great honor to find these perpetrators who are hell bent on destroying the Gambia and bring them to juctice. Mr editor, I am appealing to all the editors of the Daily Observer or any other paper on the ground in The Gambia to continue doing whatever it takes to sell our country in a very good way since some of us in the diaspora are not being good Ambassadors.
We the sons and daughters of The Gambia in the diaspora has a mandate to raise the FLAG of the country, but unfortunately some would drop the FLAG for personal gain, which will not take them anywhere, because there is no place like home.
I am wishing everyone in The Gambia a HAPPY NEW YEAR and prosperous 2009. Let’s all join hands towards the development of our country, and maintain peace and stability for which the world knows us as the SMILING COAST OF AFRICA...
