Indian community largess to GPF

The Indian community in The Gambia recently presented 48 traffic controllers (multi functions flash lights), 120 torch lights, 480 pieces of small size batteries and 288 big size batteries (alkaline) to The Gambia Police Force (GPF) at a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.

Speaking at the ceremony, Doulat Aswani, spokesperson of the Indian community in The Gambia said the gesture is a realistaiton of the Indian community’s support to GPF in traffic management especially during occasions and also at night.

He expressed delight at presenting the materials and hope that the cordial relationship between the Indian community and GPF will grow from strength to strength. Jammeh Conta, Police Commissioner responsible for traffic management hailed the gesture as laudable and timely. He said the items will help the police in the execution of their duties and promised that the items will be put into good use.

For his part, Momodou Gaye, deputy Inspector General of Police thanked the Indian community for their benevolent gesture. He said the donated materials will enhance the work of the Police Force.  Deputy Inspector General Gaye also called on the private sector to emulate the gesture.

Ensa Badjie, Inspector General of Police, also commended the Indian community for their magnanimity. He said the items will help to equip the police in the execution of their duties as well as to minimise road accident. IGP Badjie also highlighted the importance that President Jammeh attaches to the security of this country as well as his support to The Gambia Police Force.

Famara RI Jammeh, police adviser was also present at the ceremony and gave his words of wisdom to the donors.
