The Institution for Travel and Tourism on Tuesday 6th October 2009, held a press briefing at the school’s campus in Kanifing, in respect of two sponsored students who were on the verge of leaving for a degree programme at the South Nottingham College in the UK.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Head of the school, Mr. Sheikh Tijan Nyang, disclosed that every year his institution sends two outstanding students to their sister College in the UK, to pursue a specialised course in travel and tourism. He added that the school would like to depend on their products in order to make the centre a brilliant outstanding institution of learning.

He revealed that the school would continue to sponsor outstanding students. As he put it, it would also serve as a relief for their parents.

He further revealed that it is not easy for the students to sponsor themselves abroad, while hoping that they would live up to expectations while in the UK.

He also unveiled that plans are in the pipeline to send one of their lecturers, Francis Gomez for further studies in the UK.

He applauded the travel agencies and the British Embassy for their support towards the success of their school.

Lamin Bojang, a senior lecturer, said that all the 23 students were hard working, adding that the lucky ones are Binta Bah and Hamidou Jallow, all of whom he said, were awarded scholarship.

‘If you are lucky to be given scholarship you should keep the good image of the country and the College wherever you go”.

Students together with their parents expressed delight to the management and staff for their gesture and promised that they would live up to expectations.
