The convicts are: Abdou Salam Jammeh, Ebrima Teww Colley, Tamsir Badjie, Nuha Jammeh, Ansumana Jarju, Joseph Jatta, Lamin Taiwo Sambou and Sidat Jarju.
It could be recalled that the eight MFDC rebels from the southern Senegalese region of Casamance were tried in The Gambia on the offences of spying, terrorism, receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of Gambian documents, unlawful entry into the country amongst others.
The nine MFDC appellants are appealing against their conviction and sentences by the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, ranging from one to four years imprisonment respectively.
Their appeal case came up yesterday before Justice Joseph Wowo of the Banjul High Court and was adjourned for hearing.
The case was adjourned to 19th February 2009.
