The Catholic community in the Gambia has applauded Professor Alhaji Yahya Jammeh’s government in its efforts to extend development to the holy place in Kunkujang Mariama by building a viable road leading to the shrine place from Tujereng.
When the chairman of the Catholic Shrine Committee (GCSC), Pierre L.M Sarr, made the announcement of this proposed development to the congregation at the site last Saturday, the gathering expressed their joy and happiness. Many commenced to pray for the president and his government.
According to Sarr, work on the road will start in the very near future. The Shrine chairman also announced some projects to be taken by the committee like the building of toilets, grotto and a podium.
He said all the projects identified are priority projects and their designs and bills of quantity will be circulated to all interested parishes, church groups, private sector organisations, and individuals, both locally and abroad.
