New Ombudsman Office In Mansa Konko Soon

The Governor of Lower River Region, Mr. Lamin Waa Juwara has revealed that plans are underway for the establishment of an office of the Ombudsman in Mansakonko, Lower River Region. 

Governor Juwara, who was speaking to our reporter in an interview, noted that all arrangements are in place to find out the residences for those who should be there in Mansakonko for the office. “Hopefully that in early October everything would be operational”, he said.

According to Governor Juwara, he was really impressed with developments taking place, ranging from road construction to the progress made in the construction of the Sankulay Kunda Bridge.

Turning to the issue of communication, Governor Juwara asserted that today communication is a priority for the government of the Gambia. He stated that the communication system in place in the country has become a first class. Governor Juwara stated that his primary aim is to live up to expectations in meeting the responsibilities that has been entrusted to him by the President of the Republic.

Commenting on this year’s rainy season, Governor Juwara revealed that it is very promising in the Lower River Region due to the facts that there is adequate rainfall. He also commended the farmers in Kiang and Jarra for their hard work and commitment.

He added that they have heeded to the President’s back-to-the-land clarion call, noting that if the trend should continue like this, there will be bumper harvest.

Governor Juwara went further to urge the people of his region to continue their solidarity and work for the development of the country.

On Environment, he commended the Forestry Department for its crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of the forest cover.

“As Governor of the Lower River Region, I will not tolerate any form of destruction to our forest”, he concluded.
