Three-man delegation of the Gambia National Interdepartmental Sports Association (NISA) returned home from Dakar where they underwent some logistic arrangements, in a bid to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U) with St Lui university in Dakar, the Secretary-General of NISA Saikou Jarju informed Pointsport in his office in Banjul last week.

The delegation which was headed by the 2nd Vice-President of the National Interdepartmental Sports Association, Kalilu  Bayo includes Amadou Jobe of the Gambia Post office and a representative from the Gambia Ports Authority, Pa Senghore.

This agreement regarding the formation of the MOU between the two sides, according to Mr Jarju, came at a time when NISA were invited for a regional tournament in Ziguinchor, Cassamance early this year where St Lui University expressed their desire to establish links with the NISA, which he noted, was highly welcomed by the association.

‘St Lui University approached us pertaining to the establishment of the Memorandum of Understanding during our visit in Dakar earlier this year as part of the regional tournament and we also went ahead to formalise preliminary arrangements in order to go ahead to sign the MOU, but we could not sign as planned due to certain technicalities that were missing,” the NISA Secretary- General told reporters.

He stated that the MOU could have been signed since August, but could not hold due to certain technicalities.

Mr. Jarju is of the belief that the much-awaited MOU between the two sides would be signed once NISA is satisfied with the documents.

Saikou Jarju went further to underscore the importance of the proposed MOU that is yet to be signed, noting that once it is signed it will eventually pave the way for NISA to benefit from a lot of things, such as free access to learning materials in St Lui University, particularly in the area of sports.

He commended the people of St Lui for the warm welcome accorded to his delegation during their stay in Dakar, stating that NISA delegation were treated at the highest level with an excellent hostility.

“We are looking forward to forging the cordial links with St Lui University as soon as possibly and I am with the great optimism that the MOU would benefit both parties once it is signed,” the Secretary-General Sanna Jarju confidently told two reporters in his office in Banjul.
