Quantumnet CEO on the Role of ICTThursday, February 19, 2009 Mr Muhammeh Jah, the Chief Executive Officer of Quantumnet used the recent occasion of the graduation ceremony of National Assembly Members on IT training to explain the role of IT in national development. “Information Technology has already made a significant impact on jobs across all walks of life and it will continue to do so for many years to come. IT has impacted on every area of working life-from manufacturing to service provision, to office administration and even to retail sales,” he said. Speaking in an interview with The Point recently at the Quantumnet office along The Quantumnet boss further revealed that the use of IT is simply buying the hardware and software but was quick to add that there are also considerations related to being trained. The choice and type of training is vital in his opinion. Mr Jah concluded by saying it is important to be aware of the kinds of skills one might require to be trained in and use in the office. He however posited that everyone should be able to use and identify parts of the computer and use the keyboard effectively. They should also, in his opinion, be able to save, edit and print documents for themselves and perform other basic word processing functions, as well as to create professional presentations.
