The Gambia will this week sign a four year contract with senior national team coach Paul Put, Pointsports has been reliably informed.
The Belgian coach, who was on a one-year deal with The Gambia, is expected to sign another four year deal as part of extending his contract with the country.
Scorpion’s boss, Coach Put was signed in May last year and led the senior national team to a respectable performance in the World and African Cup of Nation’s qualifiers.
The Scorpions came very close to achieving their first-ever Nations Cup dream after a tough-fought one all draw against rivals Senegal in the final qualifier tie which saw them settle only a point behind group leaders Algeria in the Group Six table.
The Scorpions’ hopes of progressing to the final qualifier stage as one of the best losers were however dashed by CAF’s unpopular formula of determining the second-placed teams.
