Spanish 1st Vice Prime Minister Visits Gambia

The Spanish 1st Vice Prime Minister, Her Excellency Dona Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, accompanied by a high-level delegation, yesterday arrived in the country for a two-day working visit.

According to a press release from the Department of State for Foreign Affairs, the visit is in a bid to further the already very cordial bilateral co-operation between the Republic of The Gambia and the Kingdom of Spain.

According to the release, she would today Monday 9th March, pay a courtesy call on President Jammeh at State House. She is also to hold a joint session with the Vice President, Dr. Isatou Njie-Saidy, on the same day and two dignitaries will preside over the signing ceremony of the Bilateral Co-operation Agreement between the two countries, covering various development aspects.

As part of her visit, she will also be a guest respectively of The Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI), The Gambia Naval Base in Banjul, and the Women’s VegetableGarden in Bakoteh.

“Her Excellency Dona Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega and delegation will leave Banjul for Madrid on Monday evening,” the release concluded.
