Lamin Jarjue was brought to court yesterday following a statement he made in the Foroyaa Newspaper regarding his recent arrest ordered by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh.

MagistratePa Harry Jammeh explained that he ordered Lamin Jarjue’s arrest following a complaint in court by Lawyer Antouman Gaye, the defense counsel for the accused persons in the on-going Babylon case, that Lamin Jarjue was interfering with the piece of land in dispute. He had earlier given a court order to stop all development in the area until the outcome of the matter.

Meanwhile the Babylon case that was expected to continue yesterday could not proceed thanks to absence of both the prosecutor and the defense counsel, who were said to be indisposed. The case was adjourned until the 13thJanuary 2009.
