Momodou Turo Darboe, CEO of Vision Development Foundation and a philanthropist, over the weekend, presented gifts to the Banjul City Council (BCC) at a ceremony held at the council’s premises.
The gifts which included hundred dust masks, fifty overalls, fifty hand gloves among others, worth thousands. It is geared towards enhancing the work of the council. Speaking at the ceremony, Momodou Turo Darboe said his organisation aims to contribute to national development by complementing government’s efforts.
Samba Faal, the Mayor of Banjul, thanked Darboe for the kind gesture on behalf of the people of Banjul. He further said that the council can’t do it all alone as they are non-profit making institution but rather a service delivery institution. “Our profit is measure by the service we render to the people,” he said.
He assured the donor that the gifts will be put to good use. Other speakers included deputy Mayor of Banjul Wilson Shyngle, BCC acting operations director, Saihou Fofana and Assan Cham, ward council for New Town East and Banjul Central. The presentation ceremony was also attended by NAMS, ward councillor from Banjul and a cross section of Banjulians.
