U-turn in Jambur case

Tuesday, April 7, 2009
The defence in the Jambur case made a dramatic U-turn on Thursday 2 April before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of Brikama Magistrates Court by accepting the third count of “threatening to burn”.

At the previous sitting, the prosecution added a third count to the already existing two counts of arson and conspiracy but the defence counsel, Badou Conteh, objected and was overruled by the magistrate. The unhappy counsel had then threatened to take the matter to the High Court.

But on Thursday, the counsel announced that he had changed his mind and was ready to allow the new count. After the dust had settled on that issue, the prosecution called in two witnesses. The case was later adjourned to 6-7 April 2009, for the prosecution to come with its remaining two witnesses.
