Tuesday, April 7, 2009
Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrates Court has said that commercial drivers and conductors, as public servants, are expected to be polite, respectful and courteous towards their passengers.

According to him, most commercial  drivers nowadays  are rude to their passengers  and fail to realise without passengers ,their commercial vehicle s will cease to operate. Senior Magistrate Mbacke made these remarks on Wednesday, while delivering a judgement involving one Sheriff Muhammed Barry, who is said to have assaulted  three people - Juma Sowe, Nenneh Dambel, and Sainabou Demba - on March 22, 2009, in Serekunda.

“The accused ought to have shown some degree of politeness and respect to the passengers,” he said.  The driver was then sentenced to 4 months  with hard labour.
