Consistent with their mission to establish world peace, the United Peace Federation (UPF) and the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP) acknowledges as Ambassadors For Peace, those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideals for living for the sake of others, and who dedicate themselves to practices which promote the founding ideals of the UPF and IIFWP.

In line with this, the Universal Peace Federation and the Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace recently honoured Imam Ismaila Beye, the Imam of Sukuta Central Mosque, as an Ambassador For Peace.

In receiving the award, Imam Beye, expressed delight at the gesture, describing it as a laudable gesture. He thanked Universal Peace Federation for recognising him among millions of others.

According to him, peace is very important in any human endeavour, noting that without peace there cannot be any meaningful development.

“As an Imam, one of our fundamental roles is to preach peace and love among people. If you see there is always peace at the mosque I lead, I always tell them the truth and by doing that, your people will be united”, he stated.

Other previous recipients of this prestigious award include a renowned sociologist Halifa Sallah, Demba Ali Jawo, former President of the Gambia Press Union and Seedy Bojang, a prolific Gambian writer.
