The Embassy of the United States of America in Banjul on Tuesday 27th January 2009 made a handsome donation of bags, T-shirts, Flask and other valuable goods to Unique FM Radio at a colourful ceremony held at the radio station along Garba Jahumpa Road in Bakau.
Handing over the gifts to the beneficiaries, Tashawna S. Bethea, political and economic officer, US Embassy expressed her embassy’s pleasure in making such a presentation.
“We are providing you these gifts for you to give to Gambian youths, your dedicated listeners because you are now part of the Voice of America (VOA) broadcasters’ network,” she said.
In receiving the items, Mr Lamin Manga, managing director, Unique FM expressed gratitude to the US Embassy for their continued support.
“We are very excited for the fact that we are riding with the VOA. The Gambian people had VOA in the past and we are glad to say that VOA is back on Unique FM. It is also interesting to note that it is on Unique FM Bakau and Unique FM Basse.
“We will be pleased and more than elated to have these products and services to be given to our valued listeners,” Mr Manga said.
