A Gambian association based in Bergent, Norway, last Friday presented a new printer and photo copies to the Department of Social Science at the University of The Gambia.
The two in-one printer and photo copies valued at D80,000 was presented to Dr Senghore, Head of the Social Science department on behalf of the UTG Vice chancellor and staff. Buba Njie and Buba Sanyang presenting the items on behalf the Gambian Association based in Bergent, Norway, give brief background of the association its aims and objectives leading to the presentation of the donated item.
According to Buba Sanyang, who came down with the machine from Norway to The Gambia, the machine is meant to assist the UTG to access cheap and affordable photocopy and printing facility.
Dr Senghore, head of the Social Science department at the UTG, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the entire UTG to the donors and described the donation as timely considering the pace of developments taking place at the UTG. He revealed that the UTG plans to expand its programmes in the provision of different academic professions in the near feature. “The donated items will greatly boost the UTG morals towards achieving its goals in provision of quality, accessible and affordable education to both Gambians and non Gambians” he said.
Charles Ebere, coordinator of the social science work programme at the UTG chaired the occasion. He also thanked the donors for what he called their humanitarian gesture meant to complement efforts of the UTG, especially the social science department.
