Following the release of their brand new single last year, The Gambia's mbalax group – Maslabi - recently released another single called "Baly".
This single will be part of their next album which is in the offing. The salsa-styled single was recorded at the Maslabi studio in Nottingham, UK. In an interview with What's On during his recent visit to The Gambia, Gadafi, a member of group, disclosed that the album talks about peace.
"The album is dedicated to all peace loving people, as music helps unite people, to party together and live as one,” he said. Gadafi further revealed that the group in recent years embarked on projects to move their music to the next level. He noted that they have participated in a number of carnivals held in the UK including the 2006 grand carnival, which was attended by Pa Omar Jack (Mr Fish and Chips) and Yusupha Mboob.
"We are still intact with keen interest to move our music to higher heights. Our next album will consist of fourteen tracks," he said. According to him, the Senegambia market in the UK is big as many there appreciate their music.
Gadafi further disclosed that LJ Promotions in the UK will be responsible for the production and distribution of the next album and told their fans to expect more quality releases from Maslabi in the coming year. And guess what? The group’s upcoming album will be launched in the Smiling Coast.
