Monday, January 14, 2008

The Disaster Management Committee of CRR recently donated second hand clothes to five fire victims in Bakadagie village Nianija district.

Speaking at the handing over Ceremony, the Deputy Governor Momodou Katim Touray expressed sympathy for the victims noting that fires are a contributing factor in poverty. He added that the blaze had come as a big shock to people in the region.

The National Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Dawda Manneh, commended the Governor and his team for their quick response. He asserted that the fire had destroyed almost everything in the affected compound. Hon. Manneh further appealed for more assistance as the Marabout (Momodou Lamin Sillah) has over 300 Islamic scholars to feed.

The village Alkalo, Alhagie Sankung Sillah thanked the Disaster Management Team for their kind gesture and also commended villagers for their efforts and assistance in putting out the fire. He finally appealed for more assistance to help meet the basic needs of those affected by the fire.
