After hours in Police Detention

Dudu Kassa Jatta of Bakau, a passionate supporter of the opposition United Democratic Party, has been released after spending hours in police detention.

Mr Kassa Jatta was arrested on Thursday at the premises of the Kanifing Magistrates Court where he was to answer to earlier charges of threatening violence and obstructing a police officer in the due execution of his duties.

Shortly after his release, Kassa told journalists that his arrest was politically motivated. “I told them that I am a Gambian like any other Gambian and will continue to support the UDP,” he said.

Kassa also disclosed that whilst in detention he was asked about his relationship with Ousman Rambo Jatta and he replied that Rambo is his brother.

Kassa finally called on the people to stop harassing and intimidating each other, saying that governments go and come but the people remain.
