Ousman Jatta, alias Rambo, the Councillor for Old Bakau ward, was reportedly picked up last Saturday by security personnel from his office in Cape Point, Bakau, at around 4:00 pm and taken to the Bakau Police Station.
Family sources said no reason has been forwarded for Mr Jatta’s arrest and subsequent detention. “Rambo was taken to Bakau Police Station and upon receiving the news, I visited the Police Station two hours later but I was told that he was moved to the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) in Kanifing,” said Pa Jajay Jatta, a brother to Councillor Rambo Jatta. “But we are concerned about his whereabouts and what he has done.”
Lamin AC Touray, a family member, told this paper that Rambo was throughout Saturday in his office just to avoid problems, knowing that there is a case pending against him in court.
Mr Touray however pointed out that Rambo was also serving as a party agent during Friday s’ presidential elections where he protested against alleged irregularities. “As far as we are concerned, Rambo was exercising his constitutional right and has done nothing wrong to warrant his arrest.
We want the authorities to leave Jatta Kunda alone,” Mr Touray asserted.
