Central Bank of The Gambia on Friday beat International Commercial Bank 1-0 in the opening match of the annual inter-bank football competition at Independence Stadium, Bakau.
After a goalless draw in the first interval, Central Bank put up a stunning performance that saw them land the opener and the only goal in the dying minutes of the game.
Elsewhere, First International Bank defeated the International Bank for Commerce 3-2 in their Saturday’s keenly contested Group B fixture.
At the time of going to press last night, Arab Islamic Bank in Group A, were locking horns with the defending champions, Standard Chartered Bank.
The next fixture will take place on Friday, December 1st, when Trust Bank entertain Guaranty Trust.
The annual championship which is tagged the ‘Governor Trophy’ is been competed by the Central Bank of the Gambia, alongside eight commercial banks in the country with the ultimate goal of ensuring cordial relations between the various banks in the country.
