The second local Derby of the Kanifing Municipality in the ongoing Super Nawettan Championship would be played today Wednesday November 29th, 2006 between Bakau and Serekunda West.
The most awaited match would be played at the Serekunda West Mini-stadium and is expected to draw soccer fans from Serekunda and Bakau.
The importance of today game can not be over emphasised, as the result would determine the future of each of the team in this year’s championship.
Serekunda West collected three points in their first game last Friday against Lamin 1-0 while Bakau lost to Serekunda East 2-1 the same day.
A victory for Serekunda West would see them through to the semi-finals and subsequent elimination of Bakau from the tournament.
Bakau, the 2004 winners want to regain their throne while Serekunda West, the 2005 finalists, want to maintain their performance.
In the other match of the Group B today, Serekunda East would host Lamin at the Serekunda East Min-Stadium.
A defeat for Lamin would see them parking from this year’s competition which would be a good result for Serekunda East.
To keep their chances in the tournament, Lamin need to beat Serekunda East at all cost.
Last night Banjul was battling with Brikama at the Box Bar Mini-Stadium in Brikama in the group A encounter.
In the other group A match Gunjur were given the three points by the GFA against Sukuta for inciting violence.
