Pipe Line 1-0 Scan tours

Scan Tours FC of Bakau, last Thursday, September 21, suffered a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Pipe Line United of Serrekunda West in the first-leg final of the KMC champions’ league tournament.

Pipe Line’s, versatile forward player, Lamin Ceesay, scored the only goal of the match in the 26th minute before he was sent off in the 73th minute of the match.

In Thursday’s encounter, Scan Tours squandered their scoring chances before Pipe Line gained the upper hand in the 26th minute. Just 3 minutes into play, Scan Tours’ left-back, Lamin Trawally connected with his striker, Baboucarr Jatta, before the latter’s un-weighted shot went off target. Moments later, Pipe Line reacted to the situation with a dangerous cross to Scan Tours territory before goalkeeper Famara Bojang parried the ball out for a corner kick. Lamin Ceesay broke the stalemate in the 26th minute with a fascinating goal. At a goal down, Scan Tours was not at rest. The Bakau side re-double their effort in a bid to level the scores. In the 40th minute, their elephant striker, Abdoulie Drammeh tried his luck with a thunderous shoot that nearly beat Pipe Line goalkeeper. Fresh from the break, Scan Tours exerted more pressure on the opponents’ side in a bid to cancel the one-goal advantage. However, Pipe Line were still and determined energetic . The Serrekunda side went ahead to create numerous futile goal chance as the game continued in a sea-saw competition.

In the 68th minute, Pipe Line were awarded a penalty when Lamin Ceesay was brought down in the 18-yard box. Despite being awarded a penalty, Ceesay went ahead to over-react to the infringement on him which resulted to his sending off before Scan Tours’ goalkeeper, Famara Bojang saved Walter Sambou’s spot-kick.

At a man down, Pipe Line were arguably put to incessant pressure by the opponents before the regulation period expired with the 1-0 scoreline unchanged.

The return leg of the final will be played this Thursday, September 28th, at either Serrekunda West or East mini-stadium.
