The Young Journalist’s Association of The Gambia (YJAG) held its General meeting at The Point Newspaper office along Garba Jahumpa Road in Bakau last Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion Demba Kandeh, Secretary General of YJAG, encouraged members to always protect the interests of the association and serve as its good ambassadors.
Assan Sallah Public Relations officer of the association briefed members on the recent courtesy calls made by the executives.
The meeting also witnessed a session of pledges by members and well wishers for the launching of the association. These ranged from D100.00 to D1000.00.
Mr Nfamara Jawneh, President of YJAG, thanked all those who made pledges noting that it shows commitment and sense of ownership on their parts. Presentations were also made by various organizing committees such as the logistic, fund raising and IEC committees on their level of preparedness for the association’s official launch slated for January 31st 2008.
Aminata Sanneh, Treasurer of the association, implored all members to work hard for a successful launch.
Musa Ndow, 1st Vice President, thanked the members for attending the meeting and advised them to maintain the momentum.
YJAG among its aim is to improve the general well being of young journalist in the Gambia.
