The first Vice President of The Gambia Football Association Brigadier General CDS Lang Tombong Tamba has spoken of the FA’s intentions to stage international friendly matches with teams from North Africa in preparation for the 2010 African and World Cup Qualifiers set for May next year.

He said since The Gambia will be meeting a North African opponent in the qualifiers it is fitting to stage test matches with North African countries.
CDS Tamba added that the Scorpions will engage in a series of test matches in February and March next year to see the level of the players for the qualifiers.

Commenting on The Gambia’s Sierra Leone match, he said, “ I am impressed with the performance of the team in fact the local base players blended with the foreign base and have really performed up to expectation.”
The Gambia Scorpions have been pitted against Senegal, Liberia, and Algeria in Group 6.

Alhagie OB Conateh, Vice President of Wafu and Honorary  Life President of the Gambia Football Association,  has called on the need for the Scorpions to recognise the importance of test matches. He urged players to take test matches seriously so that it will be easier for the technicians to measure their strengths and weaknesses.
