Real de Banjul made a fiery start in the 2007/08 GFA league season with a 2-1 victory over Sait Matty FC in the first match of the league season on Wednesday.
Goals from Edrissa Sarr and Abdoulie Sanneh in the first interval were enough to fetch the first three points for the Banjul giants who finished the game at 10 men.
Both Real and Sait Matty put up stunning performance in the Wednesday’s opener before Real open scores on 14th minute. In the 45th minute Real double the advantage before Sait Matty pulled a consolidation in the second interval.
However, Real were reduced to 10 men on the 88th minutes when skipper Pa Landing Conteh received his second yellow.
Coaches of both sides were pleased with the performance of their sides, but Real Senegalese coach, Sera Ndoye believed his team’s good preparation unarguably reflected in the result.
At the time of going to press, Steve Biko were locking horn with Bakau United at Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, while Wallidan were hosting the debutants, Sea View at Banjul Mini-stadium.
Week Two matches will start on Sunday, March 18.
