The much awaited football championships to be organised by the National Inter-departmental Sports Association (NISA), formerly (NIFA) will kick off on Sunday, March 11, at the Independence Stadium, Bakau.
The tournament that gathers various institutions in the country, will start in a form of march-pass by the participating departments.The grand kick-off will be presided over by Mr Sheikh Omar Faye, SoS for Youth, Sports & Religious Affairs.
Speaking at a weekly meeting held at Gamstar House in Banjul, Mr Saikou Jarju, a member of the organising committee said a good number of companies are expected to participate in this year’s tournament, according to him, forty-eight companies have already shown their interest to participate in this year’s championships. He said thirty-two out of the lot will be given the utmost priority, and thus urged those institutions that have not finalised their registration to do so. Jarjue said seven play grounds have so far been identified to host the games in bid to ensure a speedy tournament and competitive championship.
