United trashed visiting Gambia Ports Authority 3-0 in the first leg, second round of the CAF Champions' League at the Lafia township stadium on Sunday evening.
A goal within the opening twenty minutes and two others in the second half gave the hosts the much needed victory in front of a vociferous crowd which included Governor of the area, Abdullahi Adamu.
Seun Falodun opened scores in the 19th minute with a shot from Kenneth Ayanwu's rebound while Saviour Stephen and Nasiru Salisu recorded the other goals in the 70th and 89th minutes respectively.
Ports Authority coach, Alhaji Sarr, remained optimistic that his side would overturn the three goals deficit in the return leg in Banjul.
"If we can concede three goals in Nigeria, we can also score the same number of goals and even more at home. The defenders lost concentration, which made us to concede those goals."
His Nasarawa United counterpart, Zakary Baraje disagreed and assured that his side will advance to the next round.
"We approached the game looking for early goals and a wide margin, so when the goals did not come in time, the boys became nervous. "Having seen what they look like, we will deal with the situation but it will be really difficult for them to cancel those goals without us scoring against them," he said.
