The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) Sub-committee on Tourism and Trade recently concluded a three -day orientation workshop for its members at the KMC Chambers in Kanifing.
The aims of the workshop is to facilitate the process of forming an effective net work of women enterpreneurship association and equip co-ordinating committee members with adequate information on basic concepts of assessing, monitoring and evaluating potential and ongoing enterpreneurship, commercial business activities on trade and tourism.
In his opening remark, Francis Gomez, Acting Mayor of KMC, said the workshop have come at a time when his council is in the process of establishing a women enterpreneurship associations geared towards the enhancing their socio-economic development, “This is why we at the Kanifing Municipal Council are venturing outside The Gambia in an attempt to network and link with neighbors as step towards globalization. The best starting point of a partnership is Senegal with whom we share almost all values,” he said.
He then urged the participants to utilize their knowledge during the workshop.
Speaking earlier, Bakary B Darboe, Councillor for Bakau Newtown Ward and Chairperson of the Sub-committee of Trade and Tourism of the KMC, said the orientation is meant to equip the coordinating committee on the basic information, concept on enterpreneurship development and management, marketing business management and administration.
