The National Youth Parliament (NYP), on Wednesday, launched the Media Information Communication Advocacy and Training Commission at the conference room of the National Youth Council (NYC) at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandigie Njie, acting Speaker of Banjul Youth Parliament, elaborated on the importance of information in shaping the lives of young people. Mr Njie assured the dedication and determination of NYP to reach out to their fellow young people in order to bridge the information gap, as well as enabled them make informed decisions.
Samboujang Conteh, Director of RAID The Gambia, lauded the creation of the commission as a step in the right direction. Mr. Conteh expressed hope that the commission will augment NYP’s efforts in complementing Government’s efforts towards the development of Gambian youths.
Mberry Jobe-Sonko, Programme Assistant of NYC, said the activities of NYP have impacted positively on the lives of young people, especially in raising their level of awareness on issues that affect their lives.
