The 34th edition of the West African Liaison office (WALO) championship kicked off on Saturday with the second edition of the Amadou Tounami Toure Football championship between the Gambia and Senegal Armed Forces Teams.
The first half of the opening game was well contested with both teams testing each other’s strength but was very difficult for both sides to register goal.
The second half characterized by attacks and counter attacks from both teams.
The Gambia Armed Forces’ striker Buba Darboe registered the only goal of the encounter in the 71st minute.
In the second game of the Football championship, Mali drew 1-1 with Guinea yesterday at the Independence Stadium.
Guinea first opened the score in the 27th minute through Abdou Karim Dimingo and Mali equalised in the 45th minute by Mamadou Ba Camara.
In another development, the first edition of the wrestling competition sponsored by president Jammeh will officially kick off on Friday 6th April at the Arena Shyben Madi wrestling at the independent stadium in Bakau.
According to the organizers, the gates are free for the general public in both the wrestling and the Football competitions.
