The Bakau Bahai Community held recently its 18th Computer Graduation ceremony at the new National Bahai Centre in Bakau.
This public service project was inaugurated by the Bahai’s of Bakau in October 1998 offering regular free computer classes to the public.
In her welcoming remarks on the occasion, Dr Isatou Hyde Foster said since its inception over 1,000 students have successfully graduated from the Bahai computer training completing basic and intermediate level courses.
"The ceremony is in honour of the hard work of the students and an acknowledgement of their acquisition of knowledge and skills to make use of this revolutionary technological development we call computer," Mrs Hyde Forster said.
The graduands have joined the growing number of people in the world who have come to grips with the windows of information technology, she added.
For his part, Bakary Bojang, the instructor, with the assistance of Dr Foster, presented certificates to the 70 graduands.
Mr Bojang also expressed his appreciation with the students for their efforts and achievements in computing and IT.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Mrs Isatou Jallow Bah and Mr Alie B. Saine, expressed gratitude to the Bahai Community for providing them the opportunity to study computing and gain invaluable knowledge about IT.
They said the computer knowledge and skills gained would ultimately enhance their career and contribute to the development drive of the government and the nation.
