Njies T, a young Gambian solo dancehall talent, is currently busy in the studio for the release of a new single entitled ‘Mama’.
The 31-year old and a resident of Bakau Newtown told What’s On that he was influenced into music by the late reggae legends Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and other famous Jamaican artists.
Njies T who is a member of Big Tree Crew, which features rap talents like Gregor Bamba, Barrow Banta, Black Theary, Ganja Baby and Amanka.
In an interview with What’s On Sheikh Njie, widely known by his music sobriquet Njies T, said he left music scene sometimes ago due to certain commitment. However, he confirmed that he has return with a renewed spirit.
He said his new single features the voice of the artists like Ganja Baby and Black Rudy. He observed that music industry in The Gambia is growing. He paid tribute to his colleagues in music for their commitment to music.
Njies T added that this new single is dedicated to his mother and all the mothers in the world, noting that he recognises the sacrifices they do for their children.
“The Gambia is the smiling coast and music is developing here. Reggae music has become more popular. I had the chance to go as far as Guinea Bissau together with Vex Gungyman, where we performed. I am prepared to always lift the country’s flag to a higher heights,” Njies T to What’s On.
