Modou Sowe, one of the prominent Gambian referees was recently given a stern warning by the Organising Committee of The Gambia Football Association after he was alleged to have abused the security personnel assigned to secure him, Observer Sports can reveal.

The Chairman of the GFA Organising Committee, Mass Axi Gai, revealed to Observer Sports that the FIFA/CAF referee was given a stern warning by the organising committee through the referee committee after referee Sowe was reported to have abused the security personnel who were trying to protect him from the dangers posed by some disgruntled fans during the Armed Forces and Gamtel’s Week Fifteen fixture played at the Independence Stadium, Bakau.

“It was reported to us that referee Sowe abused the security personnel assigned to protect him. So we made a stern warning through the referee committee to discourage the future occurrence of such acts,” Gai said.
