The captain of the Gambia National Senior Squad, Edrissa Sonko, has said that the presence of the fans in Sunday game against Algeria is vital, as they would serve as the 12th Scorpions.
Speaking in an interview with Pointsport on Wednesday, Captain Edrissa Sonko pointed out that the presence of the Fans at the Independence Stadium on Sunday would have a great impact on the result of the game.
Edrissa Sonko, who trades his talent with Wallsall FC in England, said that they are set and focus for Sunday game.
Commenting on the mistakes made during their game against Guinea in Banjul in March, Edrissa Sonko said that they have learned a lot from those mistakes and would build on them to collect the necessary points.
“The humiliation in the hand of Guinea Conakry in Banjul was due to some internal problem in the team but now we have over come those problems, which have resulted to our good performance in Conakry and Praia in June,” he positioned.
Meanwhile Njogu Demba, Gambian striker of EFB Efjberg in Denmark, also added his voice to Captain Sonko view, saying that they have been preparing for this match since months now.
“Despite playing in our clubs in different countries in Europe, we were preparing this game morally and mentally,” Njogu said.
It could be noted that Njogu Demba’s first cap in the National team was in October 8 in Algiers in the first leg, which ended 1-0 in favour of Algeria.
