Scorpions Hoping First Continental Qualification

The Gambia Senior Squad better known as Scorpions would be hoping to get their first ticket to the African Nations Cup Finals in 55-year of Football history when they will host Algeria on Sunday.

Despite been in a complicated situation, hope is still on the faces of Gambian players and fans that come Sunday, one of the smallest country in the African continent, The Gambia, would join other 15 nations to the must awaited Football fiesta in January-February 2008.
To achieve that dream, the Scorpions need to beat the Dessert Warriors of Algeria by three-goal margin and hope Guinea to drop all three points at home to Cape Verde.

To exploit all avenues to that success, the Gambia Football Association and the technical staff of the team have called 17 foreign-based players for the crucial.
All the players have responded present on time and are now in camp at the Paradise Suites Hotel, waiting for the big game.

With the absence of Captain Ebou Sillah, due to suspension, Edrissa Sonko would lead the team to victory.
The foreign-based players in camp are:
Assan Jatta (Bierroff) and Mustapha Jarju (Tubabo) of Lierse SK in Belgium, Edrissa Sonko of Wallsall in England Musa Bajaha of Virljo in Sweden, Ebrima Sohna of Sandefjorg in Norway, Ebrima Sawaneh of Beveren in Belgium, Abdulie Corr (Paco) of KPV Kokkola in Finland, Mathew Mendy of KFC Ver Dinger in Germany, Lamin Conateh (Babayeh) of Assyriska in Sweden, Abdou Jammeh (T-Boy) of Telecomn in Russia, Mustapha Kamal Ndow of Doxa Kotokopias in Chyprus, Modou Jagne of Atach SCR, Pa Saikou Kujabi of Gak Graz and Pa Ousman Sonko of Redbull Salzburg all in Austria, Njogu Demba of EFB Efjberg in Denmark, Ousman Jallow of Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates while Yankuba Ceesay alias Maal of Alianza Athletico in Peru was  expected to arrive yesterday.
