Arrested Bakau UDP Seven Discharged

Principal Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 30th January 2008, discharged the seven UDP supporters arrested and charged in connection with the post election clash that occurred in Bakau. The seven identified as Ebrima Arra Jatta, Yama Fatty, Jai Bojang, Fa Kebba Bojang, Menteng Bojang, Sireh Bojang and Jalika Bojang, are all residents of Bakau.

Following reading of the charge sheet to the accused persons, the magistrate told the court that the charge was ambiguous and full of loopholes. He consequently urged the prosecution to put their house in order.

Prosecutor 870 Touray conceded and applied to the court to withdraw the charge sheet to enable him prepare afresh. The magistrate granted the application and subsequently discharged the accused persons.
