GPA in domestic league return today

Thursday, March 6, 2008
The embattled Ports Authority side will play their first league match today when they take on Steve Biko at the Sea View Field housed at the Independence Stadium, Bakau.

The Ferry Boys, who earlier grasped league curtain-raiser, will return to the domestic league after suffering a shock elimination from the CAF Confederation Club Championships at the hands of ES Bengerville last weekend.

Ports Authority lost to the Abidjan club 0-1 in the Banjul first-leg match. The return leg in the former French colony, two weeks later, saw the Ferry Boys conceded three goals as they crash out in the preliminary stage on aggregate 4-0.

The 2007 FA Champions will now hope to bounce back from the Confederation Cup trauma when the lock horns with Steve Biko today.

The Bakau side lost 1-0 to arch rivals Wallidan in their leaguer opener, and will hope to garner their first point of the season in order to avoid last season’s flop.

In another Week Three fixtures today, Wallidan will face Bakau United at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, while Armed Forces entertain Hawks at the East Mini-stadium.
