With a view to ameliorating their plight following a devastating flood in their area, flood victims in Bakoteh last Friday received a donation of food items worth D31, 000. The items, including vegetable oil and other consumables, were donated by the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) at a ceremony held in Bakoteh.

Addressing the recipients, the acting Mayor of KMC, Francis Gomez, expressed his institution’s readiness to always provide the necessary assistance to victims of disaster in the municipality.

“ Be it fire, flood or other natural disasters, we are always poised to extend a helping hand to victims even though no-one would like to be a victim of disaster,” he added.

Acting Mayor Gomez urged the flood victims of Bakoteh to take their fate in their stride, as the event was the will of God. “Though, it is disheartening to wake up in the morning and find all your properties destroyed,” he admitted.
