The National U-17 team have recently gone to camp ahead of their crucial second-leg encounter match against Senegal in the 2007 CAF U-17 qualifier campaign.

The keenly anticipated match is scheduled for the13th and 15th weekend of October, 2006 in Dakar.

Having lost 0-2 to the Young Terenga Lions of Senegal in the first-leg match played in Banjul in mid September, the Darling U-17 side, under their newly assigned Egyptian coach, Tarik Siagy, will need more than a 2-0 victory in Dakar match in order to proceed to the next qualifier stages.

The Gambia are the defending champions of the CAF Youth title after clinching the 2005 Championship hosted in Banjul. As winners, the Darling Scorpions, alongside two other runners-up, Ghana and Ivory Coast, represented Africa in the World U-17 Championship held in Peru.

In Peru, the Gambia added more icing to the cake with an emphatic 3-1 victory against the then reigning champions and pre-tournament favourites, Brazil, in their debut match before they received their marching out order in the tournament after a 0-2 defeat in the hands of the Netherlands.
