Thursday, October 19, 2006
The trial of the only civilian, Hamadi Sowe, who was charged with concealment of treason, is slated to commence on November 8th – 9th 2006.

The case, which was scheduled to commence yesterday before Justice Monageng of the High Court in Banjul, could not proceed due to the state counsel’s application for an adjournment.

State counsel, Merley Wood, informed the court that at the time the file was handed over to her, it was too late in the day and therefore she was unable to prepare for the case.

The defense counsel, lawyer Sainabou Wadda Ceesay, said she was not objecting to the adjournment, but emphasis that on the next adjourned date the trial of the accused should commence.
