As part of their preparations for the African Youth Championship Finals in Congo next Year, the Gambia National U-20 team is billed to play a friendly International match against the Young Super Eagles of Nigeria next month.

That was revealed to Pointsports by the President of the Gambia Football Association [GFA] Seedy Kinteh, who returned home on Tuesday from Nigeria, where he attended the African Women Football Championship.

Mr. Kinteh pointed out that while in Nigeria, he used the opportunity to lobby for a friendly match with Nigeria, the current defending champions in the U-20 category.

GFA Boss added that the match would be held in Banjul in the first week of December and would make the official kick off of the Gambia preparations for the finals in Brazzaville in 2007.

“ We have not officially fixed a specific day for the game that it would be held in the first week on December 2006,” said Mr. Kinteh.

He used the opportunity to call on all Gambians, Companies and Institutions to support the team on their way to Congo.

It could be recalled that Nigeria is among the eight teams that would battle for the 15th African Youth Championship title in Congo from the 20th January to the 3rd February 2007.
