Jammeh receives new EC Chargé d’Affaires

President Yahya Jammeh on Friday, at State House received Mrs Helen Cave, the new European Commission Charge d’affairs.

Speaking to journalists shortly after her audience with The Gambian leader, Mrs Helen Cave said her courtesy call to the president was to reiterate the commitment of the European Union to the enhancement of the collaboration between the European Union and the Gambian government. “We are also on the verge of signing an important contract for road rehabilitation”, she stated.

On how soon the financing agreement will take place, Mrs Helen Cave said, “the financing agreement had been signed by my predecessor some months ago and before the end of the year the contract will be signed”.

On her area of attention during her tenure in office, the new European Commission Banjul Representative said her focus of attention will be on infrastructure, rural development, education and good governance. She was accompanied to State House by Bala Garba Jahumpa the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
