Tijan Bahoum’s Bail Condition Reviewed

Wednesday, November 22, 2006
The defence counsel for the beleaguered ex-Director of Power Supply at the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), Mr. Tijan Bahoum, has applied for one of the bail conditions of his client to be reviewed, arguing that his client is now out of job.

The former NAWEC Power Supply Director is facing economic crimes charges and has been reporting to the Banjul police station every three days. This, according to the defence counsel, was proving cumbersome for Mr. Bahoum as he was resident outside Banjul and was without job.

In her ruling, Magistrate Mboto ruled that the bail condition that Mr. Bahoum had to report to the police every three days had to be reviewed. The case was at that juncture adjourned to November 27th.

Meanwhile the former NAWEC boss, Abdoulie Jobe, was said to be in custody at the time of going to press. The prosecution submitted that it was yet to receive any further directive from the authorities with regards to Mr. Jobe’s case.
