The coming weekends would be one of the toughest in Gambian Football as three out of the four nationals teams registered in CAF and Olympic Games qualifiers would travel out of the country for their qualifying matches.
The Gambia national U-20, U-23 and Senior Scorpions would be engaged in their different competition around Africa.
The U-20 team would be the first team to leave the home shores this week for Bamako, Mali, where they would face their Malian counterparts in the first leg of their last match in the qualifiers of the African Youth Championship to be held in Congo in 2007.
The match is scheduled for the weekend of September 29th, 30th and 1st October 2006 at the Stade Modibo Keita of Bamako.
The return leg of that crucial game is set for Saturday 21st October 2006 in Banjul.
After the U-20 team, the Senior National team better know as the Scorpions and the U-23 would also travel in North Africa for their second games in their respective competitions.
Both matches are scheduled for the weekend of 6th, 7th and 8th October 2006.
Coach Pa Suwareh Faye and U-23 team are facing a huge task after their goal less draw in Banjul on September 1st 2006.
But for him the mission can be accomplished, as he is confident of their qualification to the next round despite promises made by the Egyptian coach that they would beat the Gambia in Cairo.
For the scorpions, they are warming up for their second game in the African Nations Cup 2008 qualifiers game against Algeria in Algiers.
The scorpions, who are the actual leaders of their group, after beating Cape Verde 2-0 in Banjul on September 3rd 2005, are aware of the big task ahead of them.
