Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Banjul Magistrate’s Court has warned that so long violations of the Highway Code continue to unfold, more traffic rules violators would be made to embrace the warmth of justice.
According to the learned magistrate, it’s regrettably lamentable that despite the apparent combined efforts to reduce the rate of road accidents, many motorists still drive without giving two hoots to the traffic regulations. He pointed out the need for ‘sanity’ on our roads and then vowed that the rod would not be spared in dealing with law-breakers on the road.
Magistrate Jawo made these remarks before slamming a two-month jail term on one Mr. Danso or an option of a court fine for violating the Highway Code.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that in 2006 alone more than 500 accidents have occurred across the country, resulting to the death of about 38 people.
